WHAT'S NEW AROUND HERE
During our most recent linkup, I attended a family reunion in which I went to several places I've never been before! My top 3 favorites from the trip were:
#1 our daytrip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC (and that's a solid #1, hands-down)
I LOVED Biltmore!! Oh my goodness. George Washington Vanderbilt II designed it to be a fully-functioning English-type estate. And it showed!

The owner of the house where we stayed warned us that bears frequent the area so we should not go out alone and we should keep all doors locked. That was super cool as we drove out for our first morning of exploring and found this cute family on the road.
It was super uncool and a lot less cute the morning we were leaving when my brother-in-law left the doors of his van open as he was going in and out of the house to pack up the car, and the bear family decided to help themselves to some snacks.
We did eventually scare off Mama and one cub by honking my rental car horn with the remote, but we discovered there were 2 more cubs in the van. My husband went out to our car and drove it back and forth between where Mama had hidden in the trees and the van while we tried to scare the two last cubs out to find their Mama. (It about gave me a heart attack when he went out there and it took my brain about 2 hours after that to convince my body to stop with the adrenaline already.) Our attempts were successful, and eventually all 3 cubs and Mama were reunited in the trees and went away. We locked the cars and stayed in the house for 10 minutes to make sure they were gone before heading back out. It was an exciting conclusion to the week.
So that's what's new around here. I'll have another, very different trip to tell you about next time! 😄

ReplyDeleteThey really are sweet! I've got 2-ish in each room of my main floor, and my niece was visiting recently, so my daughter challenged her to do a "treasure hunt" of sorts to find them all. Ha ha. The only two she didn't find were the ones sitting right next to some live plants. Hidden in plain sight. ha Thanks for the inspiration! And thanks for joining our linkup, Stephanie.
