WHAT'S NEW AROUND HERE

It's been a quieter couple of weeks around here.  No bear encounters.  No scrapbooking retreats.  But it was a great summer!

These last 2 weeks I've been in Teacher Prep Mode getting my college courses ready to go.  Although I'm teaching a new one I've never taught before, the "old" ones surprise me at how long they take to set up.  They're already housed in the Learning Management System, but changing the course schedule and all the due dates takes HOURS.

I love all 3 of my part-time jobs:  being a FOREVER Ambassador, being a sign language interpreter, and being a college ASL instructor.

For part of my ASL 1 final, I have students write me a letter to tell me what they learned in the course that can't be measured in a test.  I hope you'll take 1 minute to watch this video of highlights from a previous semester--because most people think they'll learn signs in a beginning ASL class, but it's a much more eye-opening experience than you'd imagine:

And THAT'S what I love to share.  That's what I hope my students to come away with.  They may or may not remember the signs.  But this will stay with them, as it should.

Now off to the spotlights:  the 3 most-visited, the Lucky Star, and the Host's Choice.

  6. Happy New Year, Jennifer! I was thinking today that I also might need to stop collecting nativities although I love finding new ones when I travel. At some point I need to start downsizing! LOL! Happpy belated anniversary! As always, thanks for the party!

    1. Me, too! I love finding new nativities when I travel also. For me, it might need to be more of a "give away the ones I don't love" rather than stop collecting them. ha :) You're welcome, and thank you for being a great part of our linkup!

    1. You're welcome--and thank you for sharing your fun projects with us. I couldn't help myself sharing your "bloggers' dos and don'ts"--it really was one of my favorite reads from the last couple of weeks, and I think you said everything so well and gave us all such important reminders. Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm now walking without the boot and getting back into things, which is nice. My goal today is go for a 15-minute walk in the sunshine. :) Have a great week, too!
