The Cutest Chocolate Christmas Countdown Ever (tutorial + easy-button versions)

Today I made a simple Christmas advent calendar from Hershey Nuggets and *Heritage Makers address labels, and I'm quite convinced that it's the cutest thing EVER!  See if you don't agree.

Right?

This is an adorable Christmas countdown that has the extra perks of being easy to make and being, you know, chocolate.

*Update 2023:  The digital scrapbooking system I originally used to make this countdown went through a big change to their software in 2022, so creativity like this is no longer an option these.  Thankfully, when it started having technical difficulties in 2021, I went looking for a backup and found an amazing software program you can do even more with!

I will eventually re-design this darling craft and post a printable for you, but for now, keep reading for a tutorial on how to design something like this yourself using Artisan software.

HOW TO MAKE THE CUTEST CHOCOLATE CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN EVER

To make The Cutest Chocolate Christmas Countdown Ever, you'll need:
  • 27 Hershey Nuggets (flavor of your choosing)
  • 1 piece of cardboard about 8.5x11.  The size can vary, but it shouldn't be smaller than 6.5-7" wide and 10" tall.
  • wrapping paper to cover the cardboard
  • a sheet of pre-designed sticker labels (see details below)
  • double-sided tape

You'll need 27 green labels with white circles, 1 label with a star, and 1 label with presents on a wood ("tree trunk") style background.

Next, number the labels in exactly this way.  It's important to label 1-5 SIDEWAYS.  You can see why in the photo below.  Then number 6-25 with the page portrait orientation as shown above.   There are 2 "oops" labels in case you need them, too.

Now just wrap the labels around your Hershey Nuggets.

Wrap your cardboard piece in wrapping paper.  I personally prefer more neutral paper to make the labels really stand out, but go with what you love.

This is obviously the back of the cardboard piece.

Place your wrapped Nuggets on the front of the cardboard piece, centering as you like.  Then use small pieces of double-sided tape to stick each of the chocolates on the board.

That's it!!  This whole project takes me about 15-20 minutes.

HOW TO DESIGN THE LABELS YOURSELF

Follow the directions shown here on how to design labels yourself.  This tutorial shows you the basics of crafting using Artisan, and...

...this one shows you how to save your project as a PNG file for printing at home so that you can print these labels on your sticker paper.

TWO WORDS OF ADVICE
  1. You may have noticed that there are 25 chocolates to eat as you count down to Christmas plus 2 extras (the star and the tree trunk with the presents) that aren't technically a part of the countdown.  Those are for Mom to eat.  Just sayin'.
  2. Do your friends a favor and share this post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email, etc. using the social media share buttons at the left.  Then Pin this big ol' image to Pinterest so you can find it again next year!  Because this is the cutest chocolate Christmas countdown EVER!

  4. LOL. No kidding, Shannon!! :) And if you make one that's not for kids, you can use dark chocolate, almond, or toffee Nuggets, too. I actually considered doing that so that --woops-- Mom has to eat them. ;) ha ha

    1. Thanks so much, Dee. :) I love it, too. I gave one to my 7-year-old niece one year, and the next year she wanted just the sticker page so she could make her own. :) Thank you for stopping by and for the Pin.
